It’s the Life We Lead…

December 17, 2008 by Dave Kingston

Same crap. Different crapper.

I just realised that it’s been a while since I posted anything on here. Not good for a new blog really. I was full of good intentions of posted every two weeks or so. And here we are and it’s nearly Christmas.

Well, I’ve just been busy trying to earn a second income like a lot of you. The benefit of me working hard like that is that I’ve learned some really cool new stuff and found some really cool new things to play with. For starters if you are familiar with BigG’s Keyword Tool, and to be honest you should be after I made that video down there, then you may want to try out this cool sister of KW tool…

Search-based Keyword Tool

Now, I’m not going to do any fancy tutorial for it as I’m not really confident enough with the ins and outs of it. Sure it’s simple and you can figure it out for yourself, I just never want to come off as some bloody know-it-all when I haven’t figured out the best application for it. The simple stuff is obvious after playing with it for a few minutes but I think there is a whole lot of really cool stuff you could do with this if you spend some time playing with it.

Also, I’ve got a bit of news regarding Vic Franqui’s membership site The Affiliate Academy…they have a new tutor….me! Jesus, he’s desperate. LOL! No seriously, I’m honoured to be part of the Affiliate Academy staff alongside some pretty big hitters in the niche affiliate marketing world such as Big Bad Grizz himself.

Vic is, I’m proud to say, a friend and teacher to me and I owe him a ton. The Academy goes live very early in January 2009 so keep an eye out for the launch.

This wouldn’t be a niche affiliate marketing blog if I didn’t pimp the Affiliate Academy like some crappy Guru but I’ll wait till it launches and then start spamming you all with my “super dooper not to missed extra special exclusive” bonus. Seriously, I have one. Honestly, I do.

Now for the crap…

EBay Partner Network kicked me out on Friday. Apparently, like a gazillion others EPN, wrongly I might add, believe that my account was not my first one and that I have been kicked out before. Not true. I have had 1 EPN account all this time.

Luckily, in a sick and twisted way, I am not alone and I have heard that others (the gazillions) have had the same thing happen. I hope that’s the reason I haven’t heard back from them since I sent them my ‘ass kissing, crying like a baby’ begging email.

Feckers.

Any hoot, I think next time I’ll do a video…people seem to prefer that to reading. I’m with you all there.

Peace. Go hug a tree…and ask it for a link while you’re at it.

Latent Semantic Indexing: Just Talk to Your Visitor

November 6, 2008 by niche affiliate marketing

One of the most important things in niche affiliate marketing is whenever you have the opportunity to talk or interact with your website visitor through the use of blog posts or article marketing - use Latent Semantic Indexing.

The major search engines, especially Google, are trying their hardest to understand if your content is relevant to the search term that your visitors are looking for.

One of the ways that they have found to do this in recent years is through a scientific process of identifying certain keywords that you may not be targeting in your content. The scientific community would call these LSI keywords.

I call these conversation keywords.

Basically, what it comes down to is … your content relevant?

Hold on!

You’ve searched your niche market and found a juicy keyword and you’ve made a lovely blog post or article that contains just the right amount of keyword density for that long tail that you’re targeting. But are you getting the most out of your content?

This is where LSI keywords come in.

Latent Semantic Indexing basically is a fancy word phrase for being conversational. Just imagine if you came to visit me in Ireland and I decided to take you down to my local pub for a swift pint of Guinness and we decided to have a chat about recent events in the world.

If you’re a golfer and we decided to discuss golf you will be quite right to expect that some point during the conversation that the word “Tiger” would crop up. However if you were transcribing that conversation and a search engine decided to scan through the text how does it know that the word “Tiger” is relevant to golf. Twenty years ago it wouldn’t be.

Nowadays, the search engines are clever enough to understand that any decent conversation about golf would surely include or rightly include the term “Tiger”. This is due to Latent Semantic Indexing.

How is relevant to you as a moneymaking machine in the niche affiliate marketing field?

It is important that when you are providing the search engines with keyword focused relevant content that when they come to search your content that they see these LSI keywords. Think of it as giving your content credibility in the eyes of the search engine. It may not be what you are targeting to bring the visitor to your page using LSI keywords has two benefits.

Firstly like we’ve mentioned it is good for search engines and secondly just by using these LSI keywords you are actually creating extra long tail keywords that will help with your search engine rankings.

Now, can you find these LSI keywords? You may think you know them all. Believe me, you don’t. But Google certainly does. Looking for and using LSI keywords will help you increase your traffic and therefore make you more successful at niche affiliate marketing.

Here’s a video that will help you build what I call LSI dictionaries. Basically, you’re trying to create not only your primary keyword list but also secondary list of LSI keywords that you can use to build out your content such as blog posts and articles and help those rankings and long tail keywords.

The next niche affiliate marketing video tutorial that I’ll do is to show you how to use your competition to help you build out your keyword lists and your LSI dictionary.

Niche Affiliate Marketing. WTF?

November 4, 2008 by niche affiliate marketing

Nice Renegade. Niche affiliate marketing. Really? What the hell is that?

Well, this is basically my little space on the Internet where I get to talk about my journey (well, hell really) in the Internet marketing field. I wanted to have a little place to let off a little bit of steam, maybe rant and rave a little bit, but also provide a little bit of information to some of the people are unfortunate enough to read this blog really be silly enough to sign up for my newsletter.

I’m sure you’re all pretty familiar with the term affiliate marketing and also the term niche marketing but they really don’t describe fully what exactly I believe I do. Affiliate marketing is such a broad topic and niche marketing is such a vague topic that neither term describe fully what exactly I want to do with this blog. Actually, they don’t fully describe what I do in Internet marketing.

I’ve been at this lark for quite a few months now and I’ve learned an awful lot. I’ve also got a lot of support from people that have had no reason to help me or even talk to me never mind answer my e-mails or stupid posts so it was about time to help others who were in the position I was even just a few months ago.

I’m sure there are plenty of people out there who will see this as a vanity exercise but to be honest I really don’t care. I’m just going to say it like I see it, and if it doesn’t sit well with you just drop a comment and we can have a little discussion. That’s what this is going to be about. Discussion. Information. And the odd rant and rave.

Unfortunately there are plenty of blogs out there and all they seem to want to do is sell you stuff. I’m sure I’ll drop a few affiliate links in here and there but I promise that you will get some information in return. I don’t expect to make any kind of money at all in this blog, nor should I.

If you feel inclined to drop by, read what I have to say, watch some of my videos, or even make a comment, go ahead. If you even feel inclined to send me an e-mail go right ahead. Just don’t expect me to be nice back.

Only kidding!

Anyway the first couple of posts I’m going to make some videos on some simple keyword research techniques that you may or may not have seen. We’ll see how they go and we’ll take it from there. Niche affiliate marketing whilst a stupid name is actually huge field, let’s see if we can’t make some money on it.
